Collegium Vocale Hannover

The Collegium Vocale Hannover is one of the leading chamber choirs in Northern Germany. Founded in 2004, the ensemble has been under the direction of Florian Lohmann since 2010. The choir regularly captivates with performances on a high level. That progressively leads to a supraregional perception of the choir.

The musical quality of the Collegium Vocale Hannover has often been proven in competitions. At the 10th German Choir Competition in 2018, for example, the choir achieved an “outstanding success” in the category “Mixed Chamber Choirs” and ended with a second prize and a special award for the folksong. The ensemble’s repertoire includes sacred and secular works of all periods, with a focus on the performance of a-cappella church music works of both contemporary and Early music. Modern premieres of unknown literature from past centuries complete the artistic spectrum of the choir as well as world premieres and commissioned works, for example by Marcus Aydintan, Michael Ostrzyga and Maximilian Schnaus. In the search for new listening experiences, the Collegium Vocale Hannover regularly collaborates with outstanding vocal soloists and specialists in historically informed performance. Collegium Vocale Hannover is member of the Lower Saxony Choral Association and partner of the UNESCO City of Music Hanover.
