„Telemann grenzenlos“ is the name of the Bremen Baroque Orchestra’s second CD release on the arcantus label, allowing us to catch a glimpse of the charismatic composer’s overwhelming sound world. The programmeincludes two overture suites and a concerto, all works that express Telemann’s genius in handling form and style. They demonstrate Telemann’s mastery of the art of orchestration and exemplify his programme music. In the two overture suites – in C major „Wassermusik. Hamburger Ebb‘ und Fluth“ and in B-flat major „Les Nations“, Telemann deals with forms in a flexible and light-hearted manner, changing them again and again and remaining fresh and surprising in his compositions. The concerto for viola da gamba and recorder was composed around 1730 and is further evidence of Telemann’s gift for uniting styles. This concerto is perhaps the most striking evidence of Telemann’s subtle way of forming the ‚German‘ style out of the ‚French‘ and the ‚Italian‘.
